The Kāpiti Community Recreational Turf Trust is a registered charitable trust committed to providing high-quality sporting and recreational facilities that benefit the entire Kāpiti Coast community.
Our purpose extends far beyond maintaining an artificial sports turf. We exist to create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport, connect with others, improve their wellbeing and strengthen our community.
Every decision we make is guided by one simple goal:
To ensure the Kāpiti Coast has accessible, sustainable and high-quality sporting facilities for generations to come.
Our Story
The Trust was established in 2004 after recognising the need for a high-quality, all-weather sports facility that could support the growing sporting community across the Kāpiti Coast.
Working alongside the Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club, Kāpiti Coast District Council, funding organisations and the wider community, the Trust oversaw the development of what has become one of the region’s most important sporting assets.
The project was completed in two stages:
• The all-weather artificial turf was opened in 2009
• The community pavilion followed in 2012
Today, the facility welcomes thousands of participants every year, providing a venue for local schools, sporting clubs, regional competitions, community organisations and recreational users.

Our mission is to own, operate and continually improve sporting and community facilities that encourage participation, inclusion and healthy lifestyles throughout the Kāpiti Coast.
We believe that access to quality sporting facilities strengthens communities by:

Why We Charge for Bookings
One of the most important things to understand about the Trust is that we are not a commercial venue operating for profit.
As a registered charitable trust, we generate income through:
- Turf bookings
- Pavilion bookings
- Café and catering services
- Sponsorship
- Grants and community funding
This income allows us to maintain, operate and continually improve the facility while keeping it available for schools, sporting clubs and community organisations.
Every dollar generated through our facilities is reinvested into the ongoing operation of this valuable community asset.
By making a booking, becoming a sponsor or supporting the Trust, you’re helping ensure this facility remains available for future generations.
Governance
The Kāpiti Community Recreational Turf Trust is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.
Our trustees provide strategic direction, oversee the management of the Trust’s assets and ensure the organisation continues to fulfil its charitable purpose.
The Trust operates under a Trust Deed and is registered as a New Zealand charitable trust. Trustees are appointed by both the Kāpiti Coast District Council and the Kāpiti Coast Hockey Club, ensuring a strong connection between local government and the sporting community.
